My life flashed before my eyes yesterday.. close call.
by AK - Jeff ini leave for work later now than i did for many years - i now leave the house at 3:30 am for work.
it is very dark of course.

Immigration
by Princess Daisy Boo inloubelle has started a couple of threads about the really bad situation we are living in here in sa.
they are no exaggeration - things really are not great and people around us all seem to be talking about whether to leave or not.
and for the first time, we are amongst those talking about leaving - debating whether or not we would be able to give up life here and start over somewhere else.

Our options are England (we could get ancestral visas), Australia or New Zealand.
This is a really hard decison and one we certainly wont be making quickly!

What Craft Or Hobby Keeps YOU busy?
by Sunspot inas long as i can recall, i have always had at least three craft or needlework "projects" going at one time!
i have had a few "unproductive years" due to two strokes that affected my right side and the use of my fingers.
i tried a few things and then put them down in desperation.. recently i picked up a crochet hook again determined to figure out a way to get things working again.....and it is slow and very awkward but i can still crochet!.

I love arts and crafts and I will try my hand at anything - I have scrapped, decopaged, mosaiced, cross stitched, painted and beaded - all with reasonable success - I am a creative person with a very short attention span!
I really want to start painting or doing a mosaic again, because I find it so therapeutic!
Other than that, I enjoy reading and JWD!!!
I am happy for you Annie that you managed to start crocheting - Well done (that is something I really cant do!!!)

That time of year again... Mum and Memorial
by MisfitMeL inhere we go again... i never mention anything about the meetings or study articles or associating with other jws in emails to my mum so i think she suspects that i am not attending my local kingdom hall (which is true).
so the line in her most recent email isn't suprising - i hope you'll be attending the memorial on the 22nd of this month.
the thought of what i could reply is giving me a dangerous itch!

Hi there... I know how you feel misfit - Even though my mum knows that I dont attend meetings, she still invites me to the memorial every year and I dread it every year. I have to wonder whether she will mention it this year after the big talk we had last week!

Is my JWD addiction healthy?
by Princess Daisy Boo inwhen i switch on my laptop at home, the first site i go to is jwd.
when i get into work, i make myself a coffee and go back to my desk and check out jwd.
sometimes, when i am standing in a queue or waiting for someone and i am not near either of my computers, i will browse on my cell phone.

Well I am glad to know I am not alone in my sad addiction - I am feeling a bit sorry for myself today so it is good to the get a change in perspective... maybe this is more a hobby than an addiction although it is clearly a hobby I am very very very interested in!
Lou, you are absolutely right! I wish we could have a South African Apostafest - pity you, me and Mrs Smith are all in different parts of the country! I will pm you my postal address!

Way to go Gran!!! I am in a bit of a sceptical mood today so I am not quite as hopeful as all the others - perhaps you planted a seed of doubt but in all likelihood he walked away and thought "what a poor sad lady - she wont survive armageddon".

I think I may have an addiction to this site, but I am scared to switch off. I am probably not as chatty as some - I have made just under 300 posts in 6 months, but I feel the need to hang around the site constantly. I feel a sense of support and belonging amongst you all, that I dont get from my real life friends, most because as much as I explain my JW past away, they just dont get it!
And I feel like I need the support because my JW life is never going be completely behind me.

Have you been touched by CRIME?

Hey Lou...
Lets do the good old South African Crime Story Swap...
My husband was mugged once and held up in an armed robbery at his work once. My house has been broken into. My Mom in Law has had her house broken into twice, while she was sleeping. My cousin is now a quadraplegic as a result of a gunshot in a hijacking. Another cousin was murdered in a robbery at a restaurant he owned! My best friend's husband was hijacked and held captive at gunpoint and eventually left in the middle of a veld in Soweto to find his way home. Other close friends were tied up in an armed robbery and held captive for hours while their house was ransacked... I am forgetting other stories...! And I believe that me and my family are of the lucky ones!
The thing is where do we go and how do we start over somewhere else? My husband has a senior management position at a large insurance company - we own a house and two cars. If we were to immigrate, we would basically have to start from scratch. I wouldn't mind taking the risk, but my hubby is not willing to. And besides, we would have to probably leave behind hubby and my parents - and that would be hard!
It is sad, really sad!
